Beyonce Knowles stealing the idea for her performance from the Italian pop star

Beyonce’s visually arresting Billboard Awards performance this week had the audience at the ceremony on their feet and her fellow celebrity artists in awe.

The singer performed her new single Run The World (Girls) in front of a backdrop of digital effects which were designed to coincide with Beyonce’s choreography.

But now the Grammy-winner has been accused of stealing the idea for her performance after a video of a performance last year by Italian pop star Lorella Cuccarini emerged.

The two performances bear striking similarities in the way the projected visuals move with the performer.

Some of the designs are incredibly similar, including sprouting wings, a wall that is shattered into fragments by the singers and silhouettes of the singers multiplying to form armies of backing dancers.

The idea for the graphics are not brand new, but the similarities between these two performances have raised eyebrows and fuelled furious debate between fans of both artists on internet forums.

Beyonce’s version is on a far grander scale and is performed to her single which is a more energetic and upbeat song than Lorella’s more soulful one.

After Beyonce’s Billboard Awards performance celebrities in the audience were quick to congratulate her on Twitter.

’BEYONCE go awwf! Wow!!! All I can say! BEYONCE a True Entertainer!! U Deserve the Success! Such a Hard Worker!’ Missy Elliott enthused.

Rihanna, who was shown giving Beyonce a standing ovation, wrote: ’Congrats to Beyonce on a #MAJAH award and tribute.’

DJ Diplo wrote: ’Whoa beyonce on bıllboard awards jus made me spıt my burıto out & had to get a defıbrılator.’

Kenzo Digital were behind the Billboard Awards performance video, while the overall production was by Tribe Inc.

Representatives for both Beyonce and Lorella Cuccerini have yet to comment on the similarities between the performances.
