Five Beauty Tips for Prom

If you’re trying to have an unforgettable evening instead of a regrettable one, prom makeup is definitely something you want to practice at home before going to the big event.
Upper St. Clair High School's prom is on June 14  less than a month away!
Patch has assembled some tips to help get ready.
1. Eyes. Many women struggle with applying false eyelashes, and a formal event isn’t the best time for a test run. Check out some products beforehand, and keep a tube of mascara handy that is designed to lengthen, add volume and doesn’t clump.

Mary Kay tips suggests picking an eye shadow application style that’s appropriate for your eye shape. For example, thin eyelids might need more of a highlighter than a contour shadow.
The makeup company also recommends liquid eyeliner for easier application and more control over the thickness of the line.
2. Skin. Nothing will make prom pictures worse than seeing the shade of Snooki.
Seventeen magazine recommends getting a healthy, gradual glow. Exfoliate regularly and ease into self-tanners.
If you’re planning on a professional spray tan, go three days before the big night for best results, according to the magazine.
3. Hair. Speaking of Snooki, a little volume goes a long way. Maybe not that much volume, but a little height on top can help most looks.
Teen Vogue recommends a half-up, half-down style for girls who can’t decide what to do with their hair. Add in some curls for a soft touch.
If you’re planning to dance a lot, pull your hair up, the magazine advises.
And don’t be surprised to see a lot of braids this year — it’s the trend.
4. Cheeks. A natural-looking glow is always best. So when it comes to cheeks, remember that less really is more in this case.
Tips from Sephora recommend keeping blush and bronzer subtle. On cheeks, try a soft, sheer blush that creates natural-looking highlights and undertones.
If you want to play up a feature, play up the eyes or lips.
5. Lips. With so many glosses and glazes to choose from, what’s a girl to do?
Stila lip products keep the shine high and the sticky low.
Sometimes layers are most effective, according to Stila tips. Glosses can always be worn over your favorite lip color.
Don’t be surprised to see some coral lips paired with a neutral eye. It’s a spring trend, according to Stila.
